The programs of the College of Arts and Sciences offer students the theoretical and practical foundations for careers in the sciences, humanities, and social sciences, and develop the understanding that enables an informed and independent life.

On October 1, 2004 the College of Business moved into a new ultramodern facility funded with a $3 million grant from the Earle P. Charlton Family Trust. The Charlton College of Business is the only AACSB International accredited business school in the region.

The College of Engineering strives to serve the needs of the region and the Commonwealth of Massachusetts by creating and disseminating knowledge through research and teaching and preparing students to excel in their chosen profession and to be contributing citizens in a diverse, changing world.

The College of Engineering is pleased to welcome new Assistant Professors Igal Bilik, Robert Fisher, and Nima Rahbar.

The College of Nursing provides the comprehensive education, both theoretical and practical, that is needed in this challenging and rewarding profession.

The Star Store

This state-of-the-art facility is home to hundreds of artists working in a variety of disciplines. Many of the spacious, well-lit studio facilities offer stunning views of the New Bedford Historical National Park and Atlantic Ocean. The Star Store is also home to a number of impressive exhibition spaces--most notably the University Art Gallery.

SMAST library liaison Elizabeth Winiarz has been elected president (for 2008-2009) of the International Association of Aquatic and Marine Science Libraries and Information Centers (IAMSLIC).
