6/5/2006 - Baseball Player Mike Maclean Earns Academic Honors
Junior catcher Mike Maclean (Spencer, MA/David Prouty HS) of  the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth's baseball team has earned post-season academic honors. Maclean has been named second team ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District. Maclean was named to the second team for the Colege Division in District One.

5/27/2006 - Garcia Fourth at NCAA Track Championships, Earns All-America Honors
Junior Jon Garcia (Stoneham, MA/Stoneham HS) of the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth's track team earned his fourth consecutive All-American honor by finishing fourth in the 110 meter hurdles at the NCAA Division III Outdoor Track and Field Championships at The Village of Lisle-Benedictine University Sports Complex Saturday afternoon.

5/26/2006 - Garcia Breaks Record Again, Qualifies for NCAA Finals
Junior Jon Garcia (Stoneham, MA/Stoneham HS) of the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth's track and field team broke his school record again as he qualified for the 110 meter hurdle finals at the NCAA Division III Outdoor Track and Field Championships at The Village of Lisle-Benedictine University Sports Complex Friday.

5/25/2006 - Corsairs Finish Seventh in Little East Conference Commissioner's Cup
UMass Dartmouth finished seventh in the 2006 Little East Conference Commissioner's Cup standings.

5/24/2006 - Jennings Retires as UMass Dartmouth Head Diving Coach
UMass Dartmouth Head Diving Coach Jerry Jennings has announced his retirement. Jennings, who had a long and distinguished career as a swimming and diving coach, will stay on at UMass Dartmouth and retain his other positions as Head Women's Lacrosse Coach and as Director of Intramurals.

Two members of the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth's outdoor track and field team turned in strong performances at the ECAC Division III Outdoor Track and Field Championships at Springfield College's Blake Track Friday.

The University of Massachusetts Dartmouth's baseball team lost to Eastern Connecticut State, 5-3, in an elimination game at the 2006 Little East Conference Baseball Championship Saturday afternoon.

5/11/2006 - UMass Dartmouth Downs UMass Boston at LEC Baseball Tournament
University of Massachusetts Dartmouth senior right-hander Lee Marques (Fall River, MA/Diman Regional HS) may have saved his best for last. Marques, pitching in what could have been the final game of his collegiate baseball career, limited UMass Boston to two runs and eight hits over eight innings to help the Corsairs to a 5-2 victory in an elimination game at the Little East Conference Tournament at Southern Maine's Towers Field Thursday morning.

The Corsair baseball team dropped it's opening game in the 2006 Little East Conference Baseball Tournament being played at Gorham, Maine.

Two singles players and all three doubles teams representing the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth's men's tennis team won on the first day of action at the two-day Little East Conference Championships at the UMass Dartmouth Athletic Complex Friday. The Corsairs are in fifth place after the first day with five points.

5/5/2006 - Softball Team Downs Keene State to Advance at LEC Tournament
For the second consecutive day, the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth's softball team won an elimination game at the Little East Conference Tournament. The Corsairs got a second successive complete game victory from freshman right-hander Amie Nickerson (Wrentham, MA/King Philip HS) as they made three first-inning runs stand up for a 3-1 victory over defending champion Keene State at Rhode Island College's Dayna A. Bazar Memorial Softball Stadium Friday afternoon.

5/5/2006 - Women's Lacrosse Falls at Plymouth State in LEC Semi-Finals
Top-seeded Plymouth State seized the lead midway through the first half and pulled away to defeat the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth's women's lacrosse team, 20-11, in the semi-finals of the Little East Conference Tournament at Arold Field Friday afternoon.

5/4/2006 - Softball Team Splits, Advances at Little East Conference Tournament
Freshman right-hander Amie Nickerson (Wrentham, MA/King Philip HS) pitched a two-hit shutout and the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth's softball team scored an unearned run to defeat Eastern Connecticut State, 1-0, in an elimination game at the Little East Conference Tournament at Rhode Island College's Dayna A. Bazar Memorial Softball Stadium Thursday afternoon. The Corsairs lost their first game to host RIC, 7-1.

The University of Massachusetts Dartmouth's men's tennis team will be the host when the Little East Conference Men's Tennis Championships get underway at the UMass Dartmouth Athletic Complex Friday morning.

5/2/2006 - Men's Lacrosse Drops Playoff Opener to UMass Boston
UMass Boston pulled away in the second half and defeated the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth men's lacrosse team, 9-3, in a Little East Conference game at the Clark Athletic Center Tuesday afternoon.

5/2/2006 - Women's Lacrosse Defeats Southern Maine in Playoff Opener
Once again, the second half belonged to the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth's women's lacrosse team. The Corsairs, who have outscored their opponents by 39 goals in the second half this season, scored the final 10 goals of the match and came from behind to defeat Southern Maine, 15-7, in a first-round Little East Conference playoff contest at Cressy Field Tuesday afternoon.

5/1/2006 - UMass Dartmouth Lacrosse teams Head for Playoffs
This spring's playoff action begins Tuesday for the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth's lacrosse teams. The Corsair men and women will each play a first-round playoff game. The women will host Southern Maine at 4:00 p.m. at Cressy Field, while the men visit UMass Boston at 3:30.

5/1/2006 - Spang, Jones Honored for Women's Lacrosse by Little East Conference
Two members of the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth's women's lacrosse team have been honored by the Little East Conference. Sophomore midfielder Marie Spang (Wakefield, MA/Wakefield HS) has been named Little East Conference Offensive Player of the Week, while freshman midfielder Connie Jones (Springfield, MA/Somers (CT) HS) has been named Little East Conference Rookie of the Week.

5/1/2006 - Lee Marques Named Little East Conference Pitcher of the Week
For the second consecutive week, a pitcher for the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth's baseball team has been honored by the Little East Conference. Senior right-hander Lee Marques (Fall River, MA/Diman Regional HS) has been named Little East Conference Pitcher of the Week for his performance in last Saturday's second game at Western Connecticut State.

4/30/2006 - Men's Tennis Falls at Western Connecticut State
The University of Massachusetts Dartmouth's men's tennis team won just once and dropped their Little East Conference match at Western Connecticut State, 8-1, at the Westside Tennis Courts Sunday afternoon.

4/30/2006 - Men's Golf Seventh at District Shootout
The University of Massachusetts Dartmouth's men's golf team played much better Sunday than they did Saturday at the 12-team, Northeast District NCAA Division III Shootout at the Taconic Golf Club. The Corsairs' team total of 304 was 25 shots better than their first-round score and gave them a two-day total of 633. UMass Dartmouth finished seventh in the twelve-team field.

4/30/2006 - Women's Lacrosse Downs Regis
The University of Massachusetts Dartmouth's women's lacrosse team tuned up for their upcoming playoff match by winning their regular season finale in convincing fashion Sunday.

4/29/2006 - Men's Golf Eighth After First Day at Shootout
After the first day of action, the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth's men's golf team is in eight place at the 12-team, Northeast District NCAA Division III Shootout at the Taconic Golf Club.

4/29/2006 - Men's Tennis Defeats UMass Boston
It came down to the final match of the day when the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth men's tennis team played UMass Boston in a Little East Conference match at the UMass Dartmouth Athletic Complex Saturday afternoon. Junior Josh McCoy (Newburyport, MA/Newburyport HS) won the decisive match for the Corsairs, defeating Jay Lee at number four singles, 4-6, 6-1, 7-5. McCoy trailed, 5-3 in the third set and rallied to win the last four games in a row.

4/29/2006 - Men's Lacrosse Falls at Western Connecticut State
The Western Connecticut State University Men's Lacrosse team finished up the regular season with a home win over the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth, 15-10, in a Little East Conference match-up Saturday afternoon at the WAC.

4/29/2006 - Softball Drops Doubleheader to Western Connecticut State
Western Connecticut State held the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth's softball team to seven hits and won both games of their Little East Conference doubleheader, 4-1 and 9-0 in six innings, at the UMass Dartmouth Athletic Complex Saturday afternoon.

4/29/2006 - Women's Lacrosse Downs Western Connecticut State
The second half was the key for the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth's women's lacrosse team in their Little East Conference match against Western Connecticut State at Cressy Field Saturday afternoon. The Corsairs outscored WCSU in the second half, 10-4, and went on to defeat the Warriors, 21-12, in their final LEC game of the regular season.

4/29/2006 - Corsairs Third, Fifth at LEC, Fourth, Eighth at New England Alliance Track and Field
The University of Massachusetts Dartmouth's outdoor track and field team acquitted themselves well at the Little East Conference and New England Alliance Championships at the UMass Dartmouth Athletic Complex Saturday. The Corsair men finished third in the Little East and fourth in the New England Alliance, while the women were fifth in the LEC and eighth in Alliance competition.

4/29/2006 - Baseball Sweeps Western Connecticut State
The University of Massachusetts Dartmouth's baseball team's two-headed monster was a bit too much for Western Connecticut State in their Little East Conference doubleheader at Westside Field Saturday afternoon. Junior lefthander Will Mahoney (Mattapoisett, MA/Old Rochester HS) and senior right-hander Lee Marques (Fall River, MA/Diman Regional HS) pitched back-to-back complete games and the Corsairs swept the twin bill, 10-2 and 9-1.

4/28/2006 - Corsairs host Little East, MASCAC, New England Alliance Championships
It's conference championship week for the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth's outdoor track and field team. The Corsairs will host the Little East Conference championships, the Massachusetts State College Athletic Conference championships, and the New England Alliance championships Saturday at the UMass Dartmouth Athletic Complex.

4/27/2006 - Baseball Team Wins at Bridgewater State
Freshman shortstop Dave Ogorzalek (Rockfall, CT/Xavier HS) drove in the tie-breaking run in the fifth inning and senior reliever Eric Griswold (Taunton, MA/Taunton HS) worked out of trouble in the eighth as the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth's baseball team defeated host Bridgewater State, 7-6, in a non-conference game at Alumni Field Thursday afternoon.

4/27/2006 - Women's Lacrosse Downs Worcester State
The University of Massachusetts Dartmouth's women's lacrosse team held host Worcester State to two goals in the second half and defeated the Lancers, 20-11, in a non-conference match at Coughlin Field Wednesday night.

4/26/2006 - Men's Tennis Defeats Salem State
It was a bit closer than the final score indicated when the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth men's tennis team played Salem State in a Little East Conference match at the UMass Dartmouth Athletic Complex Wednesday afternoon. The Corsairs won two very close doubles matches and three three-set singles matches en route to a 9-0 victory against the Vikings.

4/25/2006 - ECSU Sweeps UMass Dartmouth Softball
Eastern Conmnecticut swept a Little East Conference doubleheader from UMass Dartmouth Tuesday evening by scores of 8-0 and 6-1.

4/24/2006 - Pitcher Will Mahoney Honored by Little East Conference
Junior Will Mahoney (Mattapoisett, MA/Old Rochester HS) has been honored by the Little East Conference. Mahoney was named Little East Conference Pitcher of the Week for his performance in last Saturday's doubleheader against Eastern Connecticut State.

4/22/2006 - Baseball Team Divides Doubleheader With Eastern Connecticut
Junior Will Mahoney (Mattapoisett, MA/Old Rochester HS) nearly stole the show when the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth's baseball team played Eastern Connecticut State in a Little East Conference doubleheader at the UMass Dartmouth Athletic Complex Saturday afternoon. Mahoney pitched a complete game victory in the opener, and pinch-hit a three-run, game-tying homer in the nightcap. UMass Dartmouth won the first game, 3-2, but the Warriors came back for a 5-3, 11-inning victory in the nightcap to earn a split.

4/22/2006 - Men's Lacrosse Bows to Plymouth State
Plymouth State broke a 2-all tie with 33 seconds left in the first period and held off the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth men's lacrosse team, 7-4, in a Little East Conference game at Cressy Field Saturday afternoon.

4/22/2006 - Men's Tennis Team Blanks Newbury
The University of Massachusetts Dartmouth men's tennis team didn't lose a set en route to a 9-0, non-conference victory against Newbury at Pine Manor College Saturday afternoon.

4/22/2006 - Several Corsairs Do Well at Silfen Invitational
The University of Massachusetts Dartmouth's outdoor track and field team turned in several strong individual performances at the Silfen Invitational at Connecticut College Saturday.

4/22/2006 - Women's Lacrosse Defeated at Plymouth State
The University of Massachusetts Dartmouth'a women's lacrosse team fell at Plymouth State Saturday, 21-9.

4/22/2006 - Softball Team Swept at Keene State
Jessica Starkey (Keene, N.H.) knocked in five runs, including a grand-slam home run to lead the Keene State College softball team to a Little East Conference sweep (9-1 and 3-0) over UMass-Dartmouth at Owl Athletic Complex on Saturday afternoon.  

4/20/2006 - Men's Lacrosse Wins at Nichols
The University of Massachusetts Dartmouth men's lacrosse team broke a 5-all tie with three unanswered goals in the second period and went on to a 13-9 victory over Nichols in a non-conference game at Dr. Sam Wylie Field Thursday afternoon.

4/20/2006 - Softball Splits Doubleheader Against Framingham State
The University of Massachusetts Dartmouth's softball team split their non-conference doubleheader against Framingham State at the UMass Dartmouth Athletic Complex Thursday afternoon. The Corsairs won the opener in eight innings, 2-1, and the Rams took the nightcap, 3-1.

4/20/2006 - Baseball Falls to Roger Williams
Roger Williams scored 13 runs in three at-bats early in the game and went on to a 17-6 victory over the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth's baseball team in a non-conference game at the UMass Dartmouth Athletic Complex Thursday afternoon.

4/20/2006 - Men's Tennis Wins at Rhode Island College
The University of Massachusetts Dartmouth men's tennis team pulled out a close, crucial doubles match and went on to a 5-4 Little East Conference victory against Rhode Island College at the RIC Tennis Courts Thursday afternoon.

4/19/2006 - Softball Team Sweeps UMass Boston
Neither game was decided in regulation time, and each ended with a walk-off hit. But the net result was the first Little East Conference doubleheader swep of the season for the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth's softball team, which defeated UMass Boston, 8-7 in eight innings and 13-4 in five innings at the UMass Dartmouth Athletic Complex Wednesday afternoon.

The University of Massachusetts Dartmouth men's lacrosse team scored five goals in each of the first two periods and cruised to a 19-0 victory over Mitchell in a non-conference game at Cressy Field Tuesday afternoon.

4/18/2006 - Softball Bows to RIC, Nightcap Called Because of Darkness
Rhode Island College rallied to win the first game of a Little East Conference doubleheader and the second game was called because of darkness at the UMass Dartmouth Athletic Complex Tuesday afternoon.

4/18/2006 - Men's Golf Finishes Third at Worcester State
The University of Massachusetts Dartmouth's men's golf team shot a team score of 314 and placed third at the Worcester State Invitational Tuesday at the Sterling National Country Club.

Four Tufts pitchers scattered ten hits and the Jumbos hit three home runs and went on to defeat the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth's baseball team, 7-2, in a non-conference game at the UMass Dartmouth Athletic Complex Tuesday afternoon.

Eastern Nazarene defeated the UMass Dartmouth men's tennis team, 5-4.

Curry pulled out a couple of close victories in doubles and went on to a 6-3 victory over the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth men's tennis team at the D. Forbes Will Athletic Complex Monday.

Brandeis broke an 8-all tie with three runs in the bottom of the eighth inning and defeated the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth's baseball team, 11-8, at Stein Field Monday afternoon.

The University of Massachusetts Dartmouth men's lacrosse team exploded for four goals in the first 10 minutes and went on to a 10-1 Little East Conference victory over Southern Maine at Cressy Field Thursday afternoon.

Junior Katelyn Elliott (Lowell, Mass.) and senior Mary Doherty (Loudonville, N.Y.) combined for 13 goals to lead the visiting University of Massachusetts Dartmouth Corsairs to a 17-12 victory over the University of Southern Maine Huskies in a Little East Conference women's college lacrosse game Saturday afternoon at Hodgdon Field.

Bill Beaney, who led Middlebury to a 26-2-2 record and a third straight NCAA Division III title, has been named the winner of the 2006 Edward Jeremiah Award, given annually to the Men's Division III Ice Hockey Coach of the Year. UMass Dartmouth Golf Coach Paul Fistori is stepping down from his duties after nine years with the Corsair Athletic Department.  During his coaching career, Fistori's teams compiled a 31-12-2 overall record in matches while overseeing resurgence in the quality of the men's golf program at UMass Dartmouth.

Memphis RiverKings Head Coach and Director of Hockey Operations Mark Richards announced today that Forward Aaron Lewis has gone back to Huntsville of the Southern Professional Hockey League.
